Explore science, technology and everyday life. There are more than 150 interactive activities.
You can:

INVENTION ROOM
Build your own small machines.
Every afternoon at 2.30 pm there is a 30-minute workshop for young visitors.
GETTING HERE
By tram:
Take the Green Line and get off at Central Square.
The centre is about five minutes from the tram stop.
By bus:
Bus 14 stops directly in front of the centre.
OPENING HOURS
Monday–Friday: 10.00 am–6.00 pm
Saturday–Sunday: 9.30 am–7.00 pm
Last entry is one hour before closing.

Science shows are included in the ticket price.
The afternoon workshop costs an extra £3.

Reading – A Weekend in Bristol
Do not look for exactly the same words. Look for the same meaning.
“Mia loves drawing and artists” does not have to match a text that says exactly these words. It could match: “Learn about street art and the people behind the pictures.”
Bristol is a lively city in the south-west of England. It is smaller than London, but there are still lots of things to do. The city centre is easy to explore on foot, and many places are close to the harbour.
Start at the old harbour and follow the path beside the water. You can watch small boats, street artists and people sitting outside cafés. The walk is free and takes about one hour.
Take the lift to the top of a tall tower and enjoy a view over the whole city. On a clear day you can see the hills outside Bristol. Tickets cost £6 for young people.
This modern science centre has more than 200 interactive activities. You can test machines, solve problems and learn how the human body works. There is also a short science show every afternoon.
Go on board a famous old ship and find out how people travelled across the sea many years ago. Visit the small rooms, kitchen and captain's area.
Bristol is famous for colourful street art. A local guide takes visitors around the city and explains the pictures and the artists behind them. The tour lasts 90 minutes.
At the weekend, local people sell food, clothes, books and small presents at this busy market. You do not have to buy anything. It is also a great place to sit, eat and watch people.
Try climbing, jumping and other outdoor activities with trained guides. The activities are exciting, but visitors must listen carefully to the safety rules. The park is for children aged ten and over.
If the city centre is too loud or crowded for you, visit this large garden. There are quiet paths, trees and open areas for picnics. Entry is free.
Every Saturday, a small cinema near the harbour shows family films and short films from young British directors. Tickets are cheaper before 5 pm.
All these places can be reached by public transport from the main station. Day tickets for buses cost £5. You can also walk to most of them in less than thirty minutes.

ONE DAY I WILL REMEMBER
Last summer, I went to Heidelberg with my cousin and my parents. We travelled there by train on a sunny Saturday morning. I had visited the city before, but my cousin had never been there, so he was very excited.
First, we walked through the old town. The streets were crowded, but the atmosphere was great. Then we went up to the castle. The walk was quite hard because it was very warm, but the view from the top was amazing. We took lots of photos and explored the old building. After that, we had lunch in a small restaurant. I ordered a huge pizza because I was really hungry.
In the afternoon, we walked beside the river and bought some ice cream. Suddenly, it started to rain, so we ran into a little shop. Luckily, the rain stopped after ten minutes. Finally, we took the train home. I was tired but very happy. My favourite part of the day was the castle because the view was fantastic. I would definitely like to visit Heidelberg again.
